Cal-Pac is pleased to now offer Virgin HealthMiles Walking Program
As part of an ongoing initiative to help improve the well being of the Conference, the Cal-Pac Board of Pensions and Wellness Task Force is excited to announce our participation in the Virgin HealthMiles Walking Program.
Who’s eligible to enroll?
Active clergy and spouses, retired clergy and spouses, surviving spouses, and lay staff of the Conference Center, District Offices and Camps.
How does it work?
As a participant in the program, you will receive a free pedometer to track your progress toward health goals and rewards. Wear the pedometer at all times and you will accrue steps when you walk, run, bike, play basketball or tennis, golf, dance or take part in other physical activities you enjoy.
What are the rewards?
"HealthMiles" is the program's version of reward points, and you earn them by tracking your daily activity, taking regular health measurements and demonstrating improvement in your overall health and fitness levels. HealthMilestranslate into "HealthCash," which can be redeemed for gift cards to popular national retailers like Target, Best Buy, Home Depot and more. You can also opt to send a check to yourself or your favorite charity. Participants can earn up to $300 over a 12-month period, all while becoming healthier.
How do I sign up?
Please go to www.virginhealthmiles.com/cal-pac, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Join Now.”
Why should I enroll?
This program is available to you at no charge and it’s easy to participate. We understand that a healthier lifestyle may be the most difficult personal improvement to undertake… all you need to do is take that first step. As with any physical activity program is it wise to consult with your physician before beginning anything new. For those with physical disabilities the program offers the Reasonable Alternatives Earning Program which complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
How can I enroll my family and friends (including church lay staff and members of my congregation)?
Family and friends may enroll in the walking program by paying a start-up fee and a monthly membership fee.
If they wish to participate in the program where they can earn “rewards” (up to $300 per year), they may go to www.virginhealthmiles.com/umcfriends. The initial start-up fee is $29.99, which includes the first month of membership and a GoZone pedometer. The cost of membership after the initial month is $9.99 per month.
If they wish to participate in the program without the rewards, they may go to www.virginhealthmiles.com/getactive. The initial start-up fee is $29.99, which includes the first month of membership and a GoZone pedometer. The cost of membership after the initial month is $2.75 per month.
As with any physical activity program is it wise to consult with your physician before beginning anything new. For those with physical disabilities the program offers the Reasonable Alternatives Earning Program which complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
So Get Ready to Get Active with the Virgin HealthMiles Walking program where every step makes cents!
